Navy and White- Worn Two Different Ways

Let me first just say how much I love Navy. The reason I feel that it is such a great color is because whenever I wnat to wear a darker color with my outfit, but maybe not black, I can reach for navy. It's professional, chic, and can be paired well with various colors.

Turning 21!

This is the outfit I wore for my 21st birthday! I had an amazing day. My boyfriend surprised me with my favorite flowers,  family and my friends sent cards, gifts and I went to dinner followed by the bar with my friends.

One of the reasons I wanted to write this blog post wasn't just to break down my outfit, but to speak about turning 21. This is a milestone for any young adult, but this should be approached with caution. The excitement for most people comes with the now legal right to drink, but this right should be used responsibly. Always think beyond the moment and use wisdom whenever you choose to consume alcoholic beverages.

Tube Tops...a Do or Don't?

So if you're asking my opinion on tube tops, I obviously think they're a do...however, within certain limits. Because a tube top already exposes  so much up top, it's best to pair this item with something that isn't quite as revealing. For example, the first outfit that is featured I paired a white tube top with a navy flowy skirt that goes below the knee. For the second outfit I paired a black tube top with white jeans.

My personal rules for wearing a tube top:
1. Don't show too much.
-Tube tops are normally form-fitting and bare the shoulders, so leave something to the imagination.
2. Pair them with high-waisted shorts, maxi skirts and pencil skirts that hit right at the knee or an inch above.
3. You can also pair them with a scarf to appear less revealing.
4. Necklaces or earrings ALWAYS look great with a tube top.
5. Because these tops are naturally form-fitting  make sure to choose the correct size for your bust and waist.
6. BE CONFIDENT! It's the most important accessory for any outfit.

Sister's Trip

My sister and I took our first road trip by ourselves...we're growing up lol! One of my favorite authors had a book signing for her new book and we went to Hotlanta for that. We had such a great time together. I'd like to encourage all of you to spend time with your siblings and nourish that relationship.

The top photo is what I wore on the road, throw on a maxi and some bangles and you can't go wrong!

Great Read!

Hi ladies! I wanted to take the time to introduce you to another segment that will be apart of the blog...books. I loveeeee to read. I get this trait from my mom. I was a true bookworm when I was younger, check out a book one day, finish it that night, and return the next day for another. I fell off reading for a while, but recently got back into it during my internship at Disney.  Now I am back to my bookworm days! Now that I'm older I appreciate a good book as a way to unwind after a long day. So I'll be featuring books that I'm currently reading, and have read, to share with you and hopefully discuss and have our own online book club!

This book that is featured is called "Always Something There to Remind Me" by Beth Harbison. The book is about a woman named Erin who loses a first love in high school. What Erin doesn't realize at the time is that Nate might have been "the one". This story goes through the emotions of losing a first love(we all remember breaking up with our high school boyfriends), trying to find it again, and all of the emotions that come with it. This book took me back to high school, and also made me think of everything I felt when I was falling in love with my boyfriend that I'm dating now. This book solidified Beth Harbison as one of my favorite authors.

What kinds of books do you like to read? Do share, because I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a good read(-:

Style Spotlight!

These two beautiful ladies are members of my Church and I LOVED what they each wore to service that day! In reference to the top picture, I think it is so cute how Vicky paired her cognac-colored sandals with her orange dress( which, by the way looks AMAZING against her olive-skin). Mary(now my Aunt Mary!) looks so classic with this printed LBD and cardigan. This look will always be in style and looks great on anyone. Both outfits are classy, breezy for summer, and affordable. You go ladies!

*Side note- Ladies like I mentioned in the post, one of the reasons Vicky looked so great in her dress is because this orange works wonders for her skin tone. To avoid looking like your clothes are wearing you, figure out what colors work well against your skin tone. Take me for example, I adore pink and orange, however only certain shades of these colors look well on me because of the undertones in my skin. I'll be doing a post about selecting colors for your skin tone soon!
