Hello beauties! Unfortunately it has been a while since I have added a post so I wanted to write something so you all don't lose faith in me.

 

I have been having trouble with my camera recently so this have prevented me from updating my posts, but I have just invested in a new phone so this will not be a problem for long! I have more outfits, manicures, and information about good reads to post from this summer...so just take this information and apply it once spring returns(-: Also, tomorrow is the first official day of fall and I have already been preparing some fabulous things for you!

To enroll, or not to enroll?

So if you're anything like me ,or the millions of other college students, the issue of whether or not to continue your education after undergraduate has come into play. Ever since I began my undergraduate education in 2009 I was sure that I would go straight into graduate school, but I started to have many questions. I definitely would want to diversify my learning experience, so I wouldn't attend the same university where I am currently earning my undergraduate degree. But then reality, NOT negativity, set in. I started to wonder, how would I pay for this? What would be the best thing to pursue my degree in?

 When making this decision several factors should be considered. Although I am not done with my research in regards to this topic, this article really helped me, and I hope it will do the same for you.

STYLE NOTE: A red lip is very chic and classic...when done the right way. The first thing to consider is your makeup overall. You shouldn't put a bold red lip with bright purple eyes. Instead of looking glammed up, you'll look clowned out! Which is what we want to avoid.

The second thing to consider when rocking a red lip is your outfit. This lip color looks better with blacks, whites,or neutral tones to add a pop of color to an outfit. It also looks amazing with certain prints(as I have worn it).

Happy Mother's Day!

For Mother's Day I went to eat dinner at my aunt's house. The weather was nice outside and since we were in and out of the house I thought this dress was an appropriate choice.

STYLE NOTE: If you are wearing a halter style dress or top leave the necklace at home, otherwise the necklace will compete with the top. Instead opt for earrings, bracelets, or in my case a hat!

Style Spotlight!

On this style spotlight I featured one of my good friends Jasmine. She was getting ready for a night out and I loved how she paired her outfit together. She said she wanted to show off her legs and chose these black shorts. She was able to show her arms without baring to much by wearing a half-shoulder top and she kept the accessories to a minimum. You go girl!

The well-dressed gentleman you see in the photo is my good friend Kevin! We attended a fashion show that one of our other good friends participated in at my university. I love the way he combined the colors in this outfit.

Let Them Have Polish!

Sometimes I like to mix it up a little with my manicure (and pedicures)! To re-create this is very simple. First I placed a piece of tape sideways at the bottom of my nail. I painted one half of the nail with the first color, then removed the tape and painted with the other color. I went on to paint the rest of my nails with the main color.

BEAUTY NOTE: To strengthen your nails and prevent weakness from polishes, apply a top coat to bare nails before applying the color of your choice.

I had a banquet to attend for an organization that I am a member of at my university. I added the blazer to this dress because it is very form-fitting and would not have been appropriate without something over it for that particular event.

Also, I found this clutch for $17 at Payless Shoe Source last summer! I have been wearing it to different kinds of events and with various outfits. With a clutch like this you aren't limited to either day or nighttime, or seasons, because even though it is printed, it is not anything extravagant such as stones or silk material(which should be kept to nighttime events).

STYLE NOTE: If you go with a smoky eye, or a colored eyeshadow a rule to live by is to go with a nude lip. Or, if you wear a bright dramatic lip color, either go with nothing on the eyes, or a simple shadow to avoid looking as if you desire to audition for the circus(-:

These cheetah-print studs are cute, yet simple way to add some interest to an outfit.

STYLE NOTE: Sometimes you should allow your accessories do the talking for you with an outfit. For example, if you are wearing a statement necklace or large earrings, then DO NOT add a necklace...this can be OVERKILL if you do. Let one piece be the main focus to avoid your outfit being to "busy". These earrings hadenough detail, so I let them receive all of the attention(-:

A few things about this outfit, first I love, love, love the side fishtail braid! Also, don't sleep on the sandal-style birkenstocks. These sandals look best with skinny jeans, a loose-flowy top, and a large handbag for a relaxed look. BTW, I have had these shoes since I was 7 years old and I am now 20...talk about quality!

I had a bad hair day but I quickly came up with a solution...I used this gray fedora to disguise that and to serve as an accessory to the outfit! I have several hats in my closet that I use when my hair isn't cooperating, or just to add something extra to an outfit with a simple vibe.
